Dr. Chowdhury completed her Pediatric residency and was appointed Chief Resident at North Shore University Hospital/Cornell University Program in Manhasset, NY. She then joined the three-year Fellowship Program in Pediatric Cardiology at the North Shore University Hospital/New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Chowdhury is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology. She is also a council member on ACPC (Adult Congenital Pediatric Cardiology). She earned the rank of Assistant Professor at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Bronx, NY and from 2007 to 2011 Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Penn State Children’s Hospital in Hershey, PA. She is also a member on the ACPC (Adult Congenital & Pediatric Cardiology) council of the ACC (American College of Cardiology) and a member of the publications committee of the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics). During these years, she has served on the Medical Boards of Variety Children’s Lifeline and Variety International Children’s Foundation, organizations committed to improving the medical care of children. In addition, Dr. Chowdhury’s research interests are reflective of the needs of our pediatric population. They include, but are not limited to, understanding the phenotypic manifestations and treatment of genetic cardiovascular disorders prevalent among regional Amish and Mennonite (Plain) populations, such as syndromic congenital heart disease (e.g. Ellis-van Creveld and Weill-Marchesani syndromes), genetic cardiomyopathies (e.g. SLC25A4, LMNA, DSP), hereditary arrhythmias (e.g. junctional ectopic tachycardia, long QT syndrome), and familial hyperlipidemia (e.g. APOB). Training and experience have equipped Dr. Chowdhury to meet the challenges of pediatric cardiac anomalies and disease.
