Studies show that babies prefer to look at mommy and daddy’s face, their own face in a mirror, and other children’s faces more than anything else! Babies also are able to process higher pitch voices because their inner ear is not fully developed. This makes interacting with other children perfect for developing babies. Sweet child faces and high pitch voices.
Recruit other children, nieces, nephews, and neighbors to play with your baby. It will be very engaging!
If you have an older child, include her in the care of the baby by teaching her to rub your baby’s feet, hold her hand while you change her diaper, or sing to her while you drive the car.
If your baby doesn’t go to daycare, try setting up play dates. Babies are never too young to gaze at each other’s faces and you will be surprised how soon they begin to interact.
