Connecting With Your Baby

When you enter the room and see your baby for the first time of the day, greet her like a long lost friend! Show her how happy you are to see her. Use your voice inflection and body language to show that you love her and that you missed her while you were apart. She should feel like the most important thing in your life right now.

Try to get on his level or lift him up to your level so you have good eye contact when you interact. Have a ritual for saying goodbye. Resist the urge to sneak out. By taking the time to say goodbye you are teaching her trust.

Have conversations with him. He will respond with babble, but even if he doesn’t, allow time. He will begin to understand that he is supposed to be talking during that pause. Studies show that babies understand the pause and flow of conversations as early as three weeks!
